One Day at a Time
My precious grandmother loved to listen to the music of gospel singer, Cristy Lane. Her favorite recording was One Day at a Time. I can still envision her popping the cassette into her gray tape player and singing along. Throughout my homeschooling days, often times the words to this simple, yet powerful song will play in my mind.
Many people ask me how in the world can I homeschool my children. Their discussion often begins with their own shortcomings like: I don’t have the patience or I would never be able to teach them all that they need to know.
If you are held back by these same thoughts, don’t be.
Now, I am not here to proclaim that your homeschooling days will be without struggle. The whining, bickering, and the child that can’t seem to “get it” no matter howww you explain it will leave you feeling like you want to quit. However, getting hugs and kisses in the middle of the day, seeing your children show genuine care and concern for one another, and being able to rejoice with them when they succeed and encourage them when they do not will make it very worthwhile.
Proverbs 3:5&6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.”
That is a promise. If God is calling you to homeschool, he will give you all that you need to do it - one day at a time.
